AI-powered HR innovations SmartAssist and SmartInsights shake up a storm

We’d been having some exciting times at MIHCM with the unveiling of our latest AI-powered HR innovations at the exclusive ‘MIHCM Asia Connect’ event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Held at the MIHCM KL Headquarters on 3 October, ‘Connect’ showcased our cutting-edge Data & AI solutions to our clients and partners, who watched with keen interest as our CEO and product leads walked them through the SmartAssist and SmartInsights solutions.

Aimed at turbo boosting productivity, delivering unparalleled insights, and transforming HR processes, these latest innovations by our formidable Microsoft-certified Data & AI team are aimed at revolutionising the HR tech space.

Kicking off the launch event was MIHCM SEA Business & Partnership Manager​ Himayawathy Megawarnan​, who warmly welcomed our stakeholders and thanked them for joining us to explore the future of HR with MiHCM.

An eventful journey

MIHCM Founder/CEO Harsha Purasinghe then addressed the gathering, reflecting on how the company had grown by leaps and bounds not only in Malaysia but also across the region.

“Today is a very exciting day for us because we are unveiling something very new to this market. MIHCM Asia Sdn Bhd did a preview of MiHCM Cloud back in 2016 and entered the market in 2017. We wanted to build a platform to transition traditional legacy HR from an on-premise process to a complete digital system. That was the mission at that time,” he recalled.

“After seven years, with a lot of hard work, we have over 1,000 companies across over 20 markets, supported by over 30 partners. We have customers ranging from small to medium and very large enterprises across all verticals. We have four global offices – Malaysia is our HQ in Asia, we have our R&D centre in Colombo, an office in Bangladesh, and a formidable operation in Pakistan – and we are planning to expand into more territories soon. I want to take a moment to thank all of you. It is because of you that we have been able to come this far. I am happy to announce today that we are one of the few hyper-localised HCM products available in Asia.”

He then took the audience through the company’s key offerings – MiHCM Enterprise, MiHCM Lite, and MiA.

Data & AI capabilities

Moving on to the team’s Data & AI capabilities, he acknowledged that the world had entered a new era of AI and asserted that MIHCM’s Data & AI team was more than capable of building solutions to solve complex HR/work issues using AI capabilities.

“Today we have entered the AI era. It was a no-brainer when Microsoft invested $ 10 billion to open AI and gave enterprise-level assurance to ISVs like ours to build and deploy AI applications in a safe and secure manner. We have put in nearly two years of work to build our own data model for the MiHCM platform. This is just the beginning and the whole idea is to turbo boost your productivity and give you the amazing power to have a conversation with your own HR data in a secure, responsible, and ethical manner.

“I have lived through the home computer and early client server computing eras. In the early 2000s, we saw web applications emerge, then we saw the mobile era with the advent of smartphones and the app ecosystem. The last era, the biggest buzzword since 2017, was digital transformation. Every organisation in the world wanted to go digital. That’s how we came up with our MiHCM Cloud to help traditional HR transition to digital with a cloud-based HR platform offering. Today we have entered the new era of AI, and I’d like to announce our latest AI innovations – MIHCM’s SmartAssist & SmartInsights.”

 

SmartAssist for MiHCM Core

Product lead Ameen Mutaliph then took the audience through the SmartAssist offering – a groundbreaking AI-powered HR co-pilot – explaining how it streamlines the following routine HR processes, enabling HR personnel to dedicate their time to more strategic tasks:

  • Letter Builder: Transform the time-consuming task of letter writing into a seamless process by generating your letters with simple prompts within seconds.
  • Job Descriptions: Effortlessly generate job descriptions tailored to specific needs in line with HR best practices. This experience instantly generates the ideal qualifications, experience, KPIs, and KPAs required for any position.
  • Template Builder: Create templates tailored to your HR requirements – be it evaluation, confirmation, or engagement surveys – and send them out through MiHCM Enterprise within minutes, saving time and effort while ensuring accuracy and relevance.

SmartInsights, C-suite game-changer

Our CEO then introduced SmartInsights, a C-suite game-changer for HR insights.

“From the day I saw ChatGPT, I was telling my team that I wanted to see the ability to have a conversation with our own HR data. That’s the whole premise of SmartInsights and this is something we are very excited about.”

He also sounded a warning bell, telling clients that the solution would only be as good as their data: “AI is only as good as your data, so you need to ensure that all your data is accurate. This is not like public data; this is your own organisation’s data. I also want to emphasise that with MIHCM, your organisation’s HR data does not go out. We do not use public or outside LLMs and bring the results back. SmartInsights runs on top of MiHCM so you can rest assured that your data is secure. That’s why we took so long, ensuring that we do it right in a very responsible manner.”

Ameen proceeded to demonstrate the SmartInsights solution, which provides data-driven insights to enable informed HR decision-making at the click of a button.

Imagine being able to ask your data anything – no matter how complex or specific – and receiving answers within seconds? SmartInsights enables decision-makers to access powerful insights within seconds – information that would traditionally take months to gather and analyse.

From attendance and performance to resignations, SmartInsights swiftly identifies patterns and issues within a secure environment, even offering solutions in real-time.

SmartAssist for recruitment

Product lead Tharuka Jayaratnam was up next, speaking on how SmartAssist can transform talent acquisition with intelligent tools.

Explaining how SmartAssist works for candidate screening, he took the audience through the steps of streamlining candidate selection with a swift and comprehensive screening process based on predefined criteria.

Utilising the MiHCM external career portal, applicants can easily drag and drop their CVs onto job advertisements, allowing for the extraction of key information, powered by responsible AI. The result is an ideal shortlist of candidates.

“From candidate selection criteria definition, where the system guides you to say what you want in natural language and then builds rules based on that input, and CV scraping, where it extracts all pertinent information from a candidate’s CV and includes it in their job application, to candidate shortlisting, where you combine the information from step 1 and 2 and present the best candidates, SmartAssist is a gamechanger when it comes to responsible recruitment,” he noted.

MiA and EviaSign

Tharuka then spoke on MiA, MIHCM’s AI-powered personal assistant for Microsoft Teams, and MIHCM’s integration with EviaSign, which provides secure and efficient e-signing of documents for the modern workforce.

Aimed at maximising productivity via the expertise they offer, all these innovations are positioned atop the MiHCM Enterprise that our clients already know, streamlining workforce management like never before.

Bringing the ‘Connect’ session to a close, our CEO also provided some insights into more new offerings and upgrades in the pipeline as we keep on innovating, so keep an eye out for more exciting developments from us here at MIHCM!
